Washington Township Municipal Golf Course, Turnersville

If you have the urge for a couple of hours out on the golf course in South Jersey, but don't want to pay an arm and a leg to do so, Washington Township Municipal Golf Course on Fries Mill Road in Turnersville (why it's not called Turnersville Municipal Golf Course is beyond me, -ed.) would be a solid choice.

Washington Township Municipal Golf Course is a short 9-hole golf course with eight par 3 holes and 1 par 4 hole (par 28 total). The course is surprisingly well taken care of for a short municipal course, and will only cost you between $8 and $17 to play depending on your age, your residency, whether it's a weekday or weekend, and if you choose to carry your clubs or rent a hand cart. There are no golf carts at this course.

The holes range in length from approximately 60 yards to 240 yards. There is a smattering of trees, a handful of sand traps, and a small creek or two, but overall it's not a difficult terrain to play on. Great for some practice and a bit of outdoor exercise and camraderie.

There are no tee times, but for any questions, call (856) 227-1435 or check out the Washington Twp. Municipal Golf Course website for greens fees at http://www.townshipnj.com/content/77/127/865.aspx.

Good luck and have some fun!
