Three Beans Coffee Co, Haddonfield

Sometimes you just go to a place that makes you say to yourself-- "I hope this place hangs in there."

Three Beans Coffee Co. at 140 N. Haddon Ave. in Haddonfield is one of those places. Sitting on the outskirts of downtown Haddonfield in this historic, quaint section of South Jersey, Three Beans is a throwback coffeehouse that has a down-home feel unlike Starbucks or other manufactured chain coffee shops.

Walking inside you'll see a veritable mish mash of furniture to enjoy your beverage or bakery item. There are a bunch of tables to spread out on, there's a beat up billiards table if you want to run some casual pool, there are stools around the coffee bar, and plenty of free reading material scattered around the store. The drinks-- ranging from hot coffee and tea to frozen coffees to bottled juices-- won't break your wallet, unlike Starbucks and other coffee joints. And the bakery items, such as muffins, cinnamon buns, and other munchies are sure to please.

Three Beans is definitely a chill place to go, though the only real downside is that the bathroom is not exactly ideal. Maybe it's just me, but I prefer a bathroom tucked away in the back rather than right out in the middle of the store, and I also prefer having a men's and a women's restroom rather than a unisex. But inside the accommodations are just fine. And not that I have a problem with it, but some people might find the dog-friendly atmosphere a little uncomfortable, especially if you have allergies.

From what I understand, though I could be wrong, Three Beans is open 6am to 10pm Monday thru Saturday, and they're open on Sunday but I don't know what time (sorry!). And I do believe they have Wi-Fi, though I can't verify that for sure, nor can I verify the quality of the connection if they do. Some things are best found out on your own, right??

So here's to hoping that Three Beans sticks around and doesn't get run out of town by the "big boys" like so many other small shops have had happen in the past. When it comes to coffee shops, I'll take the local establishment any day.

For some coffee talk, dial Three Beans up at (856) 354-4751.

You posted this over a month ago, but I wanted to assure you that Three Beans has been around since I was in high school (probably about twelve years now) and isn't likely to go anywhere anytime soon.

Being around a while doesn't mean anything anymore. Around New Brunswick, even with a huge student studying population there have been two long standing coffee joints that closed down.
