Shangri-La, Cherry Hill

The other day I journeyed out during lunch with a couple of co-workers to one of their favorite lunch spots, Shangri-La in the Holly Ravine Shopping Center in Cherry Hill, just across the border from Voorhees (101 Spingdale Rd. at Evesham and Springdale Roads). While the food wasn't memorable or remarkable, it was a pretty decent place to go for lunch.

The restaurant serves Chinese and Japanese style food, and offers very reasonable prices for lunch time meals. I got a generous plate of vegetable chicken, plus brown rice, hot tea, and soup for about six dollars or so. It was all pretty good, though not legendary.

The ambience of the restaurant is rather dated and average looking. The service was good though I would hope it would be since it wasn't that busy at the time. It's a pretty sizable restaurant so I imagine there wouldn't usually be a wait. The prices, as mentioned were very reasonable. The portions were rather generous... quite enough to eat a full meal, though probably not quite enough to take home leftovers. And I believe they offer takeout and delivery, though don't quote me on that!

All in all, if you're looking for a good, quick Chinese or Japanese lunch at a good price, check out Shangri-La in Cherry Hill.

I do believe this is Shangri-La's numuber if you would like to call them: (856) 428-5866

And check out their website at: http://shangrilanj.com/

(One small suggestion to the owner... it might be time to take off the newspaper review from 1991. But that's just my humble opinion.)

I don't know what you expect for a weekday lunch, but we've been eating there regularly since Shangri La opened in the early 90's, and the dinner is usually spectacular! This chef was one of the first to bring this kind of food to the Cherry Hill area, and it's still about the best in South Jersey. Whether we take a bottle of wine or a 6-pack of beer with us, we always love the place.

Thanks for the comment! While I can't say anything bad about the food at Shangri La, the lunch was in the "good" range, but I wouldn't call it spectacular. I will have to try it out for dinner sometime for sure though. And I'll definitely take you up on your suggestion for bringing my own beverage! Thanks!
