Tacconelli's Pizzeria, Maple Shade

Sitting at busy 450 S. Lenola Rd., directly across from Moorestown Mall, Tacconelli's Pizzeria in Maple Shade dishes out some of the area's best pizza. This restaurant is a spinoff of the orginal Tacconelli's in Port Richmond section of Philadelphia, but fortunately the practice of having to call ahead to reserve a dough has been left for the other side of the river. Walk-ins and takeout are the norm here. Indeed, it's a great place to eat after spending a hard and tiring day shopping at the Moorestown Mall or any of the other big box stores located right around the bend. It's also simple to get there from Route 73, Route 295, or Route 38, though traffic may prove to be headache-inducing.

The ingredients used at Tacconelli's in Maple Shade, just like the original pizza joint, are all fresh (though I think the mushrooms may be canned, which is a definite minus), and a similar brick oven as the Philly version is used to bake the pizza here as well. The crust is thin and crunchy, the cheese and sauce are not too salty as can often be the case at other pizza places, and it's always served piping hot. For those looking to diversity a little bit, Tacconelli's also serves salads, but that's basically the extent of their menu.

Tacconelli's in Maple Shade is a prime place to go if you're in the area and don't feel like eating the same tired, greasy pizza you get from your local corner pizza shop. It's definitely worth the trip if you're coming from out of the area, but ultimately everybody has different tastes in pizza (and/or some in your party may want something else to eat besides pizza), in which case it may not become your favorite pizza place to eat in the Maple Shade vicinity. Personal preference will always win out!
