Red Lantern, Cherry Hill

If you want fresh, diverse, and interesting Chinese or Japanese food in South Jersey, head on over to Red Lantern in the Short Hills Shopping Center at 480 East Evesham Rd., across from Holly Oak Drive. At this veteran establishment, you will be treated to a relaxed atmosphere, friendly service, and high-quality food.

The restaurant, next door to Starbucks, and adjacent to Swanky Bubbles and Short Hills Diner, among other establishments, is reasonably priced and serves generous portions. Here's a well-written, detailed, though slightly dated review from the New York Times if you want to learn more about this "destination," as the writer refers to Red Lantern.

One point to note is that Red Lantern never seems to be packed so you should expect to be able to walk right in and get a seat whenever you go. This is an important consideration if you're really hungry and just want to some great local chow, rather than waiting an hour and a half at the Cheesecake Factory or P.F. Chang's. Oh, and enjoy the tea bar. Perfect for winter time, plus you won't even have to break the bank by going next door to Starbucks!

Red Lantern's phones will ring if you dial 856-857-9006.
